The culmination of the congress “Juri Lotman’s semiosphere is the ceremony in the University of Tartu on Lotman’s day of birth February 28. The ceremony is attended by the rector of the University of Tartu, Toomas Asser, and the President of Estonia, Alar Karis.

For human thought all that exists is that which falls into any of its languages. Thus, for instance, purely physiological processes such as sexual contact or the impact of alcohol on the organism represent physical and physiological realities.
